There's a 13 episode anime of Hellsing, and there's the OVAs which are currently being released at a rate of like 1 per 4 months or so.

The OVAs were made because the anime slowly pulled away from the manga and it ends kinda "unconcluded". ...

yeah, but its basically the same story, right?
so theres really no need to watch the anime

Well yeah but lol I just said the anime pulled away from the manga at the end, so you'll get like an unconcluded ending if you choose to watch the anime; but yeah if you're going to take up Hellsing it's best to just stick to the OVAs.

I havent actually watched the ova's yet, but I heard they follow the manga a lot more closely then the anime did.

That's true Stark, and as they were making the anime, the manga progressed too slowly, so they just downright diverged from it and created an "alternate" ending, if I can even call that an ending..
